Bringing the Board and Website to Life

A look at battlefield visuals, our experimental in-game storefront, and improvements to our testing and development tools.

The last couple of days have been all about making WHAM! BAM! HAM-HAM! feel better on the board and building the tools that will help us keep improving it.

A more expressive battlefield

We’ve been refining how compact cards look during a match. Elemental borders are getting a more distinctive treatment, including support for cards whose casting costs span multiple elements.

Status effects are also being shaped around the cards themselves, while new visual-effects work explores how animated rings and other effects can sit naturally on the battlefield. We’ve spent time reviewing Hero artwork in the player HUD, too—because your Hero deserves a proper introduction!

Exploring an in-game storefront

We’ve continued experimenting with bringing a web-based storefront into the MonoGame client. The prototype has already given us a chance to test resizing, mouse and keyboard interaction, card images, and simulated purchases.

This is still experimental work, but it’s helping us understand how a future in-game store could feel like a natural part of the game.

Better tools for testing and development

On the server side, we’ve been expanding our headless match-testing tools so we can run multiple games, adjust test conditions, and observe how the online gameplay loop holds up.

We’ve also continued improving the website’s development tools and traffic dashboards, making it easier to manage content and understand how the site is being used. Alongside that work, we’ve been refining privacy choices and updating the related site information.

There’s plenty more to come, but these improvements are helping us build a stronger foundation for the next round of features. Thanks for following along!
